காந்தியின் நினைவு நாள்

தேசத்தின் முகவரி 
மூன்று தோட்டாக்களில் இடம் மாறியது, 
சுட்டவனும் 
சுடப்பட்டவரும் சொன்ன வார்த்தை 
'ஹே ராம்' 
இல்லாத இஸ்மாயில் 
கைகளில் ஒட்டிக்கொண்டது விசித்திரம், 
நான்கு மாதத்தில் தேசிய கொடி 
அரைக் கம்பத்திலழுதது, 
ஒற்றைப் புன்னகை களவுபோன தேசத்தில் 
தேசிய புன்னகையும் திருடு போனது, 
செல்லரித்த கிழவரின் கைத்தடியை 
சிற்றெறும்புகளின் கைகள் பிடித்திருப்பதாக 
பாவனைச் செய்கின்றன... 
திதி கொடுக்கும் தினத்தில் மட்டும் 
கதராடைகள் சூழ்ந்து கொள்கின்றன சமாதியை, 
சுட்டவனுக்கு 
சூடம் காட்டிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் கும்பல் 
காந்திக்காக அழுவதும் வேடிக்கைதான். 
ஓ இன்று மோகன்தாஸ் கரம்சந்தின் நினைவு நாள்! 
ரோசாக்களை இறைப்பதுவும் 
இரத்தக் கறைகள் தெரியாமலிருக்கத்தானா?

where a lone smile was robbed,
the national smile got stolen.
Little red 
ants pretend
to hold the old man's 
moth-eaten walking stick...
Only on the day of his annual ceremony
Khadi dresses mob his resting place.
It is funny
that the same lot 
who worship the shooter
cry for Gandhi.
Oh. It's Mohandas Karamchand's death anniversary today.
Are rose petals being sprinkled
to hide the bloodstains?
